Cemetery & Parks Meeting
August 14, 2012

The meeting was opened at 7:05PM present were, Ray Boyes, Tubby Boucher, John Barett, Roger Rapoza and Pam Haman.
Minutes from the July 9, 2012 meeting were approved.
Correspondence: none.
Bills were reviewed with a discussion on the water bills.
Deeds were approved and signed.
Appointments: Bob Tumber attended the meeting to discuss the memorial markers. It was suggested that volunteers could be used for up cleaning the area around the markers. Groups such as Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts might be utilized for this type of project. Roger said that when the department is doing grounds keeping around town that the department might also be able to help out. John proposed that more information might be need on the markers and location.
Superintendents Report:
Clean up around the stone monuments and removal of dead trees from the upper common will be done. Bob Tumber asked about the possibility of a veteran’s war memorial for the upper common.
VFW Pond water was tested and the E coli count was in normal limits. The area has been involved in a “land swap” with the state however the status of that is unknown at this time. The VFW Pond was once a swimming area. Roger would like to clean up the area around the pond rake weeds create a grassy area, clean up brush and prune dead or damaged trees. Leslie would like to look at the area to advice on conservation restrictions.
Adams Dam in another is Roger would like to clean up and restore. Leslie let Roger now that there would also need to be involvement of the conservation commission as well.
Discussion on the Gazebo is tabled for now.
Other Matters: John Barrett said that he had been attending meetings on the Town Charter about the need to revise or not revise. There have been questions about the Selectmen’s appoint authority. More input from departments may be requested at a later date.
